Virginia Slater
Voice
Virginia Slater, soprano, received a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Eastern New Mexico University in 2008 and will complete a Master's Degree in Vocal Performance in 2011. She has been active in UNM's Opera program, performing lead roles of "Laeticia" in Menotti's The Old Maid and the Thief, "Monica" in The Medium, and the "Prima Donna" in Donizetti's Le Convenienze et Inconvenienze del teatrali. Virginia has been the featured soloist in two world large choral works world premieres: Rene Clausen's The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere in Portales, NM, and Michael Mauldin's Earthsongs in Albuquerque, NM. Virginia has experience singing in a myriad of styles and in many venues, as she started singing in ensembles and as a soloist at a very young age. From 2008-2010, Virginia taught three voice courses at UNM and worked with over 100 singers of a variety of ages and abilities.
