Harmony Road Music Courses


Harmony Road Course at The New Mexico School of Music The Harmony Road Music Course is a nationally recognized group music program, taught in over 100 locations in the U.S.A. Developed by a leading early childhood music specialist, the program features an age-appropriate curriculum geared toward the “whole” child. Singing, movement, ear training, composing, note reading, and solo and ensemble playing are just some of the activities that students will experience in our program.



Early Childhood Classes at The New Mexico School of Music

Toddler Tunes

(ages 16 months - 3 years)

A joyful first music experience! Tots and parents share in a music-making program of rhythms, finger plays, keyboard exploration, active movement games, singing and activities with toys such as hoops, balls and scarves. Parents attend and participate in each class session. These classes are not sequential, and may be taken in any order. They may also be repeated as many times as you wish! (30 min. class, 14 weeks)

Music in Me Classes at The New Mexico School of Music

Music in Me   (ages 3 - 4 ½ years)

Music in Me is a dynamic readiness program for young children with emphasis on ear training, solfege singing, movement, keyboard activities, and pitch and rhythm awareness. Creativity is the focus. Parents share in class and home activities. (45 min. class, 14 weeks)

This class is designed for students who have previously completed the Music in Me course. Students will build upon the fundamentals learned in Music in Me with extended keyboard activities and continued emphasis on ear training, solfege singing, movement, and pitch and rhythm awareness. Parents share in class and home activities.

Harmony Road Course at The New Mexico School of Music

Harmony Road   (ages 4 - 6 years)

The Harmony Road course is carefully constructed for children to learn the basic building blocks of music. Emphasis is on ear training, solfege singing, keyboard playing, ensemble, rhythm activities, movement and music creativity. This exceptional course gives the student “ inner hearing”, which makes transposing, improvisation and composing easily accessible in their musical studies. Parents participate in class and at home. (55 min. class, 14 weeks)

The Young Musician   (ages 7 - 10 years)

The Young Musician course introduces beginning students to keyboard performance and note reading in a holistic program, including the organized development of pitch, rhythm, solfege singing, keyboard and movement activities. Parent involvement in class and at home. (55 min. class, 14 weeks)

Additional class information
A parent or guardian must accompany students in class. Please wear comfortable clothing as we will be doing many active movement games during class. Un-enrolled siblings are not allowed in any class (newborns in infant seats are the only exception). A keyboard or piano is recommended for practicing at home.
