New Mexico School of Music Programs
Suzuki Violin
Suzuki Violin (Ages 4 and up)
The Suzuki Method is based on Dr. Shinichi Suzuki’s “Mother Tongue” philosophy.
Suzuki believed that all children have the potential to be successful playing music if they are
raised in a warm, encouraging environment where they have the opportunity to experience music.
Children listen to recordings, and have weekly group and private lessons in order to be immersed
in the language of music.
The non-competitive and supportive environment allows children to be motivated by more
advanced students and also be role models for beginners. Parents attend all lessons (depending
on the child’s age and ability) and are involved in the child’s development.
The New Mexico School of Music welcomes students age 4 and up to the Suzuki Program.
Both Suzuki I & Suzuki II are 14 week sessions, including one group class per week
(schedule listed below) and one 30-minute private lesson per week, scheduled separately with the instructor.
