When I decided to take piano lessons again after a twenty year hiatus I had no idea that I would be opening my life to the power of creating music. I thought it would be fun — a new hobby — which it is, but I could not have expected that learning how to play piano as an adult would allow me to explore aspects of my creativity I had not yet discovered. Every week I walk away feeling like my life is a little richer thanks to Steve Wiseman’s insight, knowledge, and encouragement. One of the exciting aspects of taking piano lessons at the New Mexico School of Music is the high level of professionalism that the teachers exhibit. It addition, the school works hard to provide consistent, free faculty and student concerts in the community. Whenever I attend these concerts I feel proud to be part of an environment that values not only learning but performing music. In fact, I would say it is inspirational!

We have been delighted with the instruction both of our kids have received at NMSM. Margaret has made excellent progress with both piano and flute and is enjoying her new voice lessons and Musial Theater class. Robert ADORES Miss Stacy and his Toddler Tunes class. At just under 2 years old, he sings along to songs he knows and can find “DO” on the piano. All of the instructors we’ve had have always been thoroughly professional, working to expand our children’s musical knowledge. The variety of courses and instrumental instruction is truly impressive, allowing Margaret to try out different areas of interest. I don’t hesitate do recommend the school to anyone who asks where we take our kids for music instruction.

Finding Tatiana and the NM School of Music was the most important part of Stephanie’s education in our brief stay (two years) in Albuquerque. Shortly after she began her program, Stephanie progressed at a faster rate than ever before… and with such great training management and instruction she was able to perform at Carnegie Hall within a year of her arrival in New Mexico. She was further able to travel to Urbino, Italy, in the summer of 2007 for a 10 day session of intense musical and cultural immersion. My hearty thanks to the entire NM School of Music faculty and staff!
